Revisiting one of our first International real paper published features, with 3DNick's DMC DeLorean on RAD48 and AirBagged Suspension.
"No one has really put their hands on one of these. Sure, there's a few here and there that have tried some small things but nothing really spectacular. The English Man Nick Allen, that by the way also owns a slammed, 72 Volvo, accepted the challenge.
A DeLorean DMC-12! DMC (DMC stands for DeLorean Motor Company and this model was only manufactured over 2 years in 1981 and 1982 in Northern Ireland.
Hollywood made DeLorean a thing for eternity and only through this did John DeLorean receive the attention that he always wished for. Doc Brown and McFly transformed this car in the 80's with plenty of gimmicks and performance wise the milky way seemed only 9 seconds away.
Nick prefers things a little more subtle, although no one could stop him on his way to buy some wheels. A call to Germany quickly followed and on the other side of the line was RAD48's Mario Mattick, who was directly served with Nick's vision: Using the complete width of the car without losing the original looks."
"No problem for Mario, but his first concept ended up a lot more concave and extreme.
In the end both of them found the golden middle with the birth of "16x8 and 17x10.5 - RAD48 DLR" Straight away scoring the "Best of Wheels" trophy at the "Ultimate Stance Show" in Telford UK. Individual solutions were also needed for the suspension. No one had anything laying around or even any interest in developing any components for a DeLorean. "Intermotiv" decided to take up the task at hand, creating some custom shocks with air bags, all controlled by a "KNTRL" management System, ensuring a perfect fitment every time."
